A Complex Engineering Puzzle
The critical challenge for any quick-service restaurant is managing the massive heat load from cooking equipment while maintaining perfect air balance. We needed to design a powerful kitchen exhaust system to remove grease-laden, hot air, and simultaneously provide a tempered fresh air supply to prevent negative pressure, ensuring kitchen odors never enter the consistently cool and comfortable customer dining area.
Innovative & Efficient
Our team designed and installed a dedicated, high-capacity kitchen ventilation system with specialized exhaust hoods and a Make-Up Air Unit (MAU) to ensure proper air balance. For the customer dining area, we installed a separate, energy-efficient VRF system to provide quiet and reliable cooling. This two-system approach created distinct, pressure-controlled zones, ensuring optimal performance for both the kitchen and front-of-house operations.
Key Project Outcomes
Achieved 100% compliance with McDonald's stringent international design and equipment standards.
Engineered a complete air balance, effectively isolating kitchen heat and odors from the customer dining area.
Reduced kitchen ambient temperature by over 10°C, significantly improving the working environment for staff.
Completed the project on a fast-track schedule, enabling the restaurant to meet its grand opening deadline.
