Integrated Fire Safety and Building Automation System for ICBC Pakistan Headquarters

A comprehensive overhaul of the fire detection, suppression, and alarm systems, fully integrated with a state-of-the-art Building Management System (BMS) for the ICBC headquarters in Karachi. The project's primary objective was to enhance occupant safety, ensure business continuity, and achieve compliance with international safety standards.

Client

Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC)

Location

Karachi, Pakistan

The Challenge

A Complex Engineering Puzzle

The client's primary challenge was to upgrade their existing, disparate fire safety systems into a single, cohesive, and intelligent network. This network needed to provide centralized monitoring and automated control to minimize human response time and potential for error, a critical requirement for a high-value financial institution with sensitive data centers and high-occupancy office spaces.

Our Solution

Innovative & Efficient

Our team designed and implemented a fully addressable fire alarm system integrated with a Honeywell Building Management System (BMS). The solution included the installation of photoelectric smoke detectors, heat detectors, and manual pull stations. For critical areas like server rooms, an FM-200 clean agent fire suppression system was deployed to protect assets without causing water damage. The BMS integration allows for intelligent, automated responses during a fire event, such as instant notification to emergency services, controlled shutdown of HVAC systems to prevent smoke propagation, and unlocking of access-controlled doors for safe evacuation.

Services Provided

  • Addressable Fire Alarm & Detection System
  • Clean Agent Fire Suppression Systems
  • Building Management System (BMS) Integration
  • HVAC and Smoke Management System Control
  • Project Management

Results

Key Project Outcomes

Achieved a 40% faster incident response time through automated BMS alerts and system triggers.

Guaranteed 100% compliance with both NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) standards and local Pakistani building codes.

Reduced annual energy consumption by 15% through optimized HVAC control via the new BMS.

Provided a centralized dashboard for real-time monitoring and control, significantly improving facility management efficiency and reducing operational costs.

Their team delivered a truly integrated and intelligent safety system that exceeded our expectations. The centralized control and automated response capabilities of the new BMS have given us unparalleled peace of mind and operational efficiency. It was a seamless project from design to commissioning.
