A Complex Engineering Puzzle
The primary challenge was the complexity of a mixed-use high-rise. Each component—retail, corporate, and residential—had vastly different MEP requirements that needed to be served by a central plant but controlled independently. Integrating the fire and life safety systems across these different occupancies into a single, cohesive emergency response plan was a critical and complex task.
Innovative & Efficient
We engineered a centralized utility plant with independent controls for each tower. A powerful Building Automation System (BAS) was the core of the solution, providing zoned HVAC control and integrating the fire alarm systems from all three towers into one central security command center. This allows for unified monitoring and a coordinated emergency response while optimizing energy use across the entire development.
