Specialized HVAC & Kitchen Ventilation for KFC Pakistan

A specialized HVAC and kitchen ventilation project for a new-build, high-volume KFC drive-thru outlet. The primary objective was to engineer a system that effectively manages the high heat and exhaust loads from the kitchen while ensuring a cool, comfortable, and odor-free dining environment for customers, all while optimizing for energy efficiency and hygiene.

The Challenge

A Complex Engineering Puzzle

The critical challenge in a Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) environment is the extreme contrast in HVAC demands between the kitchen and the customer dining area. The kitchen generates intense heat, grease, and smoke, requiring powerful and safe exhaust systems. This system must be perfectly balanced with the comfort cooling in the dining area to prevent negative pressure, odors, and drafts from impacting the customer experience.

Our Solution

Innovative & Efficient

We implemented a dual-system solution. For the kitchen, we installed a dedicated Makeup Air Unit (MAU) and a high-velocity kitchen exhaust hood with integrated fire suppression, ensuring all heat and airborne grease are safely captured and expelled. For the dining area, we installed a high-efficiency rooftop packaged AC unit, sized to handle solar gain and high customer turnover. The systems were interlocked and balanced to maintain a slight positive pressure in the dining area, effectively preventing kitchen odors from migrating and ensuring a constant supply of fresh, cool air for guests.

Services Provided

  • Commercial Kitchen Ventilation & Exhaust Hoods
  • Makeup Air Unit (MAU) Installation
  • Rooftop Packaged HVAC Unit Implementation
  • Grease Ducting and Filtration Systems
  • Project Management for QSR Fit-Outs

Results

Key Project Outcomes

Maintained a consistent and comfortable dining area temperature of 22°C, even during peak summer and cooking hours.

Achieved 100% compliance with NFPA 96 standards for commercial kitchen ventilation and fire safety.

Completely eliminated odor transfer from the kitchen to the dining area, significantly enhancing the customer experience.

Reduced energy consumption by 20% compared to standard, unbalanced QSR ventilation systems.

In our business, speed, safety, and customer comfort are paramount. Their team delivered an HVAC solution that expertly handles our demanding kitchen environment while keeping our guests comfortable. The system is efficient, reliable, and perfectly tailored to the unique needs of a high-volume KFC outlet.
