A Complex Engineering Puzzle
The primary technical challenge was the absolute necessity to prevent molecular cross-contamination. The HVAC system had to ensure that aromatic compounds from one lab area did not mix with another, which would compromise product integrity. This required creating multiple, completely isolated air zones with dedicated supply and exhaust systems within a single facility, while maintaining strict temperature and humidity for sensitive chemical processes.
Innovative & Efficient
Our team designed a multi-zone, single-pass HVAC system where 100% of the air supplied to each critical lab zone is fresh, conditioned air that is then exhausted directly to the outside without any recirculation. We installed dedicated Air Handling Units (AHUs) for each zone, incorporating activated carbon and chemical filtration stages to scrub the exhaust air. Strict pressure differentials were maintained between labs and corridors, all monitored and controlled by an integrated Building Management System (BMS).
